Exciting news for the Dilly today as the Federal Government has announced that $95.6 million in funding from the upcoming budget towards the Picton Bypass and Picton Road projects following strong advocacy by the Wollondilly Council.
The funding is part of a commitment to state infrastructure in this week’s Federal Budget, aimed at creating jobs, improving commuter safety and driving economic growth.
Mayor Matt Gould said, “I’m excited to hear about this funding which goes towards addressing the infrastructure deficit in this growth area, particularly in relation to the Picton Bypass.” Mayor Matt Gould continued “I’d like to congratulate our local members, Angus Taylor and Nathaniel Smith for their support for these projects and we also look forward to the NSW Government committing funds in the upcoming budget.”
Wollondilly Council has been strongly advocating for the Picton Bypass to create a safe evacuation route for residents in emergency situations and provide alternative access through the town centre when the historic Victoria Bridge is closed, as well as addressing the increase in traffic caused by growing populations in surrounding towns.
Exciting times ahead for the Dilly!
