Camden woke to the news of the historic Whiteman Arcade going up in flames earlier this morning. The two storey building is home to restaurant Upstairs at Fred's, Miracle Skin Therapy and other retailers.
The roof has since collaped and up to 50 firefighters responded to the blaze on Argyle Street. Fire Superintendent Adam Dewberry says that crews have contained the blaze and in an incredible effort, have saved surrounding businesses.
Crews will be on scene for the remainder of the day working to establish the cause of the blaze. Southbound closures on Argyle Street are in effect as of 10am this morning.
Thankfully, everyone is accounted for, no reports of injury so far. Our thoughts go out to the affected businesses, we know that they will come back from this bigger and better than before.
