LIVE IN ONE OF THESE SUBURBS? YOU CAN GRAB A FREE TREE
Sydneysiders wanting a little more greenery or privacy in their backyard on the cheap have had their prayers answered by the state government.

Partnering with Bunnings, 26,500 young trees will be given away free of charge to households across Greater Sydney to promote greener streets and improve air quality across the suburbs.

But be warned: The trees are doled out on a first come, first served basis.

This month, eligible Sydneysiders can nab up to three shade and privacy trees from any of the following species:

- Bottlebrush (Callistemon Endeavour) 200mm
- Bottlebrush (Callistemon Hanna Ray) 200mm
- Lilly Pilly (Syzgium Australe) 200mm
- Lilly Pilly Winter Lights (Syzgium Winter Lights) 200mm

People can order their free trees via the MyServiceNSW website.

And if you do miss out this month, new varieties of native, flowering and fruit trees will become available every month.
